It’s an uncertain time for all of us at the moment but there are a few things that may be worth thinking about updating on your website and digital channels during the time of Covid-19 Coronavirus to make sure your customers are aware of any changes in your business.

Your website could have an additional header message added above the navigation. You could use this to explain what’s changed in the business or even if you are operating normally. You can see an example of this on our website at the moment, in the pink bar above the navigation.
Add a new page or blog post
Give your customers details on how the latest measures are affecting your business, this is important even if things are running as normal – but update them if there are changes to events or your whereabouts. Link to government advice if required to ensure you have the latest updates in the UK that’s here: www.gov.uk/government/topical-events/coronavirus-covid-19-uk-government-response.
Update your homepage
Consider updating your homepage with a short message, this could also link to the new page and any key information that’s changed.
Update your Google Business listing
Update your Google Business listing to let your customers know if you’ve made changes to your opening hours, make sure your description is up to date and add a post. Make sure your phone number and contact details are correct — especially important if customers can’t visit your business address.
Add post(s) with your latest information and how the changes might affect your customers. If your run events this might mean providing daily updates. Also, ensure you update your descriptions and hours of business. Provide updates even if your work is largely unaffected – so customers can still interact with your business. In Facebook, posts could be pinned to your feed or made as an announcement. For Instagram make a story and highlight it.
Does everyone know in the business know how to update the website if they need to? Do they all know their logins in case someone else needs to take over updating? Create a document on how to access your website, your Google Business account, your mailing list, your Google Analytics and the hosting details. Make a back up of your website and check all plugins are up to date. If the website can’t be updated for some time then you’ll know it’s in its best state possible.
Use your mailing list
Update your customers via your mailing list, use your online newsletter to provide information, don’t bombard but update customers with any important information as necessary.
